ClassSigns of the City

Faramcia di San Marco

During my study abroad in Florence, Italy, I studied the local signage of the city. During a class field trip to a 2000+ year old apothecary, I became fascinated by the city’s evolution of type and how the signs shapes urban life. Since the closing of the pharamcy, the structure has become at risk of renovations, so I re-created a digital typeface to preserve the city’s history.

Challenge: My first time designing type!
Goal: Adhere to a strict visual system

Test out the font yourself!
